Miriam O’Connor and Martine Harding creators of the NZ web series Capital Culture were featured on the Radio NZ Sunday Morning Show with Wallace Chapman recently.
Capital Culture is a crowdfunded mockumentary style web series about four young women ‘scenesters’ in Wellington. The show was created by four friends (who play the main characters) and was inspired by their experiences living in Melbourne.
Wallace talked to Miriam, who plays Lennon, a fashionista and self proclaimed style setter running her own blog; and to Martine, who plays Willoughby a singer/song writer and aspiring DJ who works in a cafe to pay the bills.
Miriam hasn’t acted before and says she was incredibly nervous when her first scene was shot. “The characters are heightened version of ourselves to some degree. We’re taking the mickey and laughing at ourselves.”
Capital Culture is proving a hit with audiences and now the Gibson Group is backing a bid for funding for a second series, which if it gets funded they will executive produce.
