Melbourne WebFest is the first and only festival dedicated exclusively to web series in Australia — and the southern hemisphere and is held on 18-20 July this year.
A panel of professional judges have chosen 30 series as the 2014 Official Selection which will automatically be nominated for awards. An additional 20 series were selected for a ‘Second Look’ category, which will also be screened during the festival but will not receive award nominations.
Two New Zealand web series have been selected for the Second Look category;
– Flat3 – created by Roseanne Liang, JJ Fong, Perlina Lau, Ally Xue.
– The Adventures of Suzy Boon – created by Roberto Nascimento (Robert says they’re “super stoked” to be chosen for the series that was only released at the end of March)

The Melbourne WebFest says they work to honour the innovative creators that are transforming the world of entertainment:
“Web-based series entertainment is growing rapidly and is fast rising to challenge traditional modes of creating and engaging with content. Innovative web series creators are a driving force in the storytelling evolution on digital platforms, and are giving viewers the control over what and how they watch content.
“Web series is a global movement and we are currently seeing an emerging digital industry, built from the ground up, by creators who are increasingly in control of their own content.”
